Based on the player's actions, the events of the game will change or happen in different ways. A few paths have been identified so far, each resulting in different dialogue and endings, as well as secrets. These paths are determined based on how Baron is treated at the start of the game and whether or not the Barghest is killed at the end of Act 1.
The Glowbringer Path is achieved when Lore feeds Baron the Viking Feast Dog Food instead of garbage. Lore then throws the garbage away in the trashcan outside, granting the Glowbringer Path. On this path, Lore speaks in Guardian Glyphs when trying to defeat The Artifact.
The Darksider Path (sometimes referred to as the "Blood for Blood" path) is achieved when Lore feeds Baron garbage and throws Baron's food away in the trash. On this path, Dark Lore appears much earlier and more frequently. If the Barghest is not killed, the Darksider Path is aborted and you will continue along the Glowbringer (or Human?) Path. On this path, Lore speaks in Darksider Glyphs when trying to defeat The Artifact.
